Zirconium Coating

Sometimes, we might feel that our teeth don’t look the way we want them to due to dental issues, traumas, or bad habits, leading to cosmetic imperfections that bother us. This is quite natural, as everyone deserves a beautiful smile. Thanks to the zirconia veneer method commonly known as “zirconium tooth” among the public, you can have aesthetic teeth that are both durable and indistinguishable from your natural teeth. What’s more, before the procedure, you can collaborate with your dentist to plan various aspects of your teeth, from how they should look to their color, and achieve the exact teeth you desire.

What is zirconium

Zirconium is an extremely resilient material, highly resistant to breaking and corrosion. Zirconium veneers, crafted from this material, constitute a treatment method wherein the outer surface of a tooth is covered with zirconium after a specific amount of tooth preparation and shaping, to address cosmetic flaws. It’s often favored for its proximity to the appearance of natural teeth and its durability over extended periods of use. Thus, while achieving the desired aesthetic appearance, the functionality and resilience of the teeth are upheld.

Until recently, dental veneer techniques were notably advantageous compared to metal-based porcelain veneers. Primarily, they significantly facilitate obtaining a natural tooth appearance. As the material’s inherent color is white, the concern of visible metal color behind the veneer—present in porcelain veneers—does not apply to zirconium veneers. Being a biocompatible material without metal constituents prevents potential allergic reactions. The application of the veneer not only to the front but also the surrounding areas of the tooth extends its lifespan. Furthermore, the risk of detachment is significantly mitigated by the veneer’s robust adhesion to the tooth.

How is Zirconium Veneer Done?

The process of zirconium veneering is similar to the procedures in other dental treatments. Simply put, what is done here is reshaping the teeth and applying veneers to eliminate unaesthetic appearances. Thus, with the help of zirconium teeth, cosmetic and functional issues caused by gaps or misaligned, fractured, or discolored teeth can be resolved. Usually, all procedures are completed between 2 to 3 sessions, and the treatment is concluded. The treatment process begins with observation, continues with creating a model, and ultimately ends with the application of the veneer. Thanks to modern techniques, the three-dimensional models created before the procedure allow for an anticipated visual preview of the expected outcome before the veneering is done.
